Sidewalking is a work of mainstream fiction with elements of historical and science fiction. As the action progresses, the story crosses time periods spanning from the1800's to 2300's. Nathaniel Cutter is a young man yearning to leave the mundane safety of his family's farm for the adventure of living in New York City. When he does so, he finds that life is not as glossy as he would have hoped, and he settles down to raise a son. When unexpected news arrives from back home, Nathaniel decides it is time to return to take his rightful place as the heir to the Cutter farm
