The True Use of the Sword was written by Alessandro Senese in Bologna in 1660. It covers the use of the sword alone, as Senese did not approve of daggers or other secondary weapons. Senese's work is more tactical than technical in nature, and provides interesting insights on different types of fencing a fencers might take part in, from fencing with friends to fighting for one's country.
