“SHOWPIECE SHIZU-OKA (THE SILENT-HILLS)” – (2016; 100-pages) –haiku-poems for western-culture derived from 2-original-works – both available: the 1st outlining haiku/tanka/renga didactics for the occident; the 2nd focusing on kigo (season-words) for New-Zealanders and Australians “Down-Under” (inclusive of waka, senyru and zappai forms); the synthesis of-which, produced this book of “single-breath poems” equivalent in matter and spirit to haiku-forms of the orient – i.e., akin to the true haiku…in nature and essence (form/esprit), and substance or content and appearance (matter/identity)! Allusions to beautiful things in Japanese, Kiwi and Ocker cultural-heritage abound, as the concept for these books and for this scholarly-undertaking in relation to this poignant and poetical art-form, sprang-from the notion of “Sister-City” alliances: Nagaizumi (Japan); "River-City" Wanganui (NZ); and Toowoomba (Australia)!
