Blood Valentine and Other Stories

First introduced to us in the 2023 book, “The Ghosts In My Head,” Chuck Polanksi, a hard hitting, heavy drinking, aspiring writer and private investigator wannabe, is back in four new tales of mystery and mayhem. In the title story, “Blood Valentine,” a young woman whose own family has abused her as a child, finally snaps, and goes on a bloody rampage through the city, and Polanksi is the only one who stop her reign of terror. In the story “The Coffee Queen,” a coffee heiress whose father has been kidnapped for ransom seeks Polanski's help, only for him to realize he's been taken for a ride – and why is there a severed finger in his freezer? And in the story, “Hammer Down,” Polanksi is tasked with the job of locating a woman's abusive ex boyfriend, known as “The Hammer,” who's on the run, only for Polanksi to realize he's been set up as a fall guy once again, and the woman is only interested in the Hammer's huge bank account. And in the novella, “The Burning Barn,” Polanski meets up with the lovely and charming Miss Audrey Gibson, who wants to hire Polanksi to solve the forty year old murder case of her daughter, only to find himself not only falling in love with her, but also ending up knee deep in a small town secret that was better off left that way.
