The Tullar Farm Chronicle

John Tullar's brick farmhouse, built between 1758 and 1762 in Egremont, (Berkshire county) Massachusetts, by a Simsbury (CT) pioneer on the remnants of the Mahican Indian reservation. The structure is unduly ignored since it combines essential elements of colonial vernacular architecture in unique forms. This monograph examines the family history through the formation of the town and the westernmost county in the Commonwealth. Tullar's experience and civic energy were the basis for the success of the settlement. But without his German wife and her connections to the town's first settler families, Karner and van Guilder, his skills as a miller would have been misplaced.
