IMMORTALITY READY: A Glimpse of Heaven

One of the clearest messages of the Bible is that God is a faithful, promise keeping God. He never makes any empty promises. He always says what he means, and he means exactly what he says. He goes all the way to watch over his words to perform it. Jesus made a very clear promise to his disciples and all believers that he was going to come back and take us to heaven, his Father’s house. This therefore is the belief, the hope and expectation of every child of God. “In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” (John 14:2-3 KJV). While a lot of people try to spiritualize heaven, the descriptions in the Bible support a very literal heaven. “The city was shaped like a cube, because it was just as high as it was wide. When the angel measured the city, it was about fifteen hundred miles high and fifteen hundred miles wide.” (Rev. 21:16 – CEV). If God created this beautiful world in just 6 days, then what he’s been building for more than 2000 years must be absolutely breathtaking, and beyond any human comprehension or description. “And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.” (Rev. 22:1-2 KJV). Moses prayed… “I pray thee, let me go over, and see the good land that is beyond Jordan, that goodly mountain, and Lebanon.” (Deut. 3:25 – KJV). May this be our heart-felt prayers as well. May we all be counted worthy of making it into heaven our eternal dwelling place in Jesus’ name.
