In March 2019 I had gone on a pilgrimage to 108 battle sites in Scotland to perform a meditative ritual at each one. The very unusual and transformative retreat – a three-month journey in a camper van – was so much more than just visiting battle sites, and afterwards I struggled to put words to the experience. Finally, with a lot of encouragement from others, this account is the result.
