Welcome to the Learn Java by Association with C, Cobol, Fortran, Pascal, Visual Basic. This book developed from the author’s experience teaching the Java programming language to those who already know some other programming language. The present compilation has been put together from the user’s point of view. It is intended to help programmers learn a new programming language by association – by looking at a familiar language that they already know and quickly seeing how the same tasks can be performed in Java. To that end, this is a collection of basic language features rather than a comprehensive comparison of the programming languages. Although the main goal of the book is to teach Java from the knowledge of either C, Visual Basic, Fortran, Cobol or Pascal, the book can also be used to quickly learn the basic syntax of any language included in the book.
