When Eleanor Green, a local reporter, lands her "dream job" in the animal protection movement, her mother warns her that she might be exploited for the cause. From her first day working for People Against Animal Cruelty (PAAC,) Eleanor realizes her new boss, Honor Vine, is a tyrant. As the days go by, however, Eleanor falls in love with the people across the nation who support the animals and are the spirit of the animal rights movement.
She, along with her browbeaten colleagues, plows into organizing campaigns to end farm animal abuse, steel-jaw leg hold traps, the enslavement of circus elephants, hunting, and she develops a campaign to promote veganism.
The better she does her job, however, the worse Honor Vine's abuse. How much abuse should she take?
On the day that Honor is forced to pay for her tyranny, Eleanor finds herself threatened. Her mother steps in, when Eleanor needs it the most, to reveal a lifetime secret.
