Sunshine New Mexico

Sunshine New Mexico. By Douglas Coiner. From the day he was born, Danny Valente was being groomed to be the next Boss of the California Crime Family run by his father. He grew up tough and smart and easily earned the respect of the members of the family who helped raise him. By the time he was thirteen, he had earned the title of the Sonny Corleone of California. He was celebrated, entitled, and in control of his own destiny. But that all changed when he was sixteen and his father was sent to prison. With his father out of the picture, Danny and his younger brother Junie were sent to the obscure little town of Sunshine New Mexico to live with their estranged mother and her abusive husband. Danny had not seen or heard from his mother since he was eleven years old and Junie was six. And now they were forced to share a modest home with a woman they barely remembered. Danny was now faced with difficult and unexpected challenges. He would need to adjust to small-town life among the ignorant 'hicks', a mother he does not know, and an abusive stepfather who wants to teach him who's boss. Will Danny Valente be brought to his knees? or will he rise to the challenge? Fuggedaboutit!
