Sarah hated being poor! Having to live in a neighborhood with cardboard nailed over broken windows, and rodents as big as cats running through overgrown yards looking for food, only added to Sarah’s discontent. Her mother, Madge, cleaned houses to put their meager food on the table, and bought their clothing at a nearby thrift shop. Sarah wanted to dress like other high school girls, and out of her “wants” came dreams of all that a lot of money could buy. She would find, however, that dreams rarely mirror reality, and the cost would be exceedingly expensive!
Gloria was the most unlikely person that Sarah would ever let befriend her, even though she, too, came from a poor family. Gloria’s home was full of love and contentment, a roof over their head, with most of their food brought home from a food pantry. However, they had each other and their God, and that was more than enough. But would a stranger and temptation rear its ugly head and Gloria take the bite? Only time would tell…
