This book is a true story... mine. There is nothing in it that is not meant to be real. Even the fantasies and dreams are real, as every magician knows. Most of these works were a gift to someone in my life, written for them. A few were written for people who gave me one glance walking down the street. If you think that a poem might be for you, it certainly could have been, so you should consider it as yours, because many of my poems seem to cross the boundaries of time. I am imagining that you will recognize something of yourself in my words. Even if we are strangers, certain words are apt to touch deeply into your soul. Some things in life are so important that they are found entrusted to many different people, so these words are also for you, my stranger friend. If you think that we have things to share, find me... somehow. I am always ready to walk one more road. These poems were written slowly over years of time, and that is the way they are meant to be read. Sometimes only one line, or even a single word, will have meaning to you. As you read, stop often to allow the visions to come to you. Explore each fantasy and dream, they are yours... they are as real as a song or as personal to you as the way you see a color. They are the story of a very real life. In these pages poems of grand ideas are interspersed with eoic and mundane love poems for various friends and lovers. I did edit out the more mundane of them, and a number of the short poems that were just a broken heart crying out. But I left some of them in the book, too, because they are a part of me, and the evolution of moving from that one single story the young poet kept returning to, and the story of what the poems show he was reaching for, is an important part of my story. I don’t even believe now every word I spoke over these years of my life, but I am including some of them anyway, to show the evolution of a man. Let your own thoughts be a continuation of what I might start. A poem is only as good as the things that it inspires you to feel. Create poetry from the words of your feelings, I would so love to see them. Perhaps just one word could inspire a whole new chapter in someone's life... Who could tell?
