Sunburn

Helena Saunders hasn’t fallen in love since she was sixteen. Though sometimes dating Robert Garza, a roughneck in the Odessa oil fields, she won’t let herself become romantically involved, much to her sister Kathy’s dismay. Helena thinks she is happy, until one evening when Kathy and her husband, Frank, leave for the bowling alley, and a very tall, handsome stranger knocks on the door, wanting to rent out the back room. Helena’s world is completely shaken, so mesmerized is she, finding herself falling in love almost immediately. But it isn’t long and she begins to realize that maybe this stranger, Jake, isn’t quite human.
