Destined for Deception

Joe gets drafted into the service during World War II, and he marries his childhood sweetheart, Maria. He cannot tolerate the war, so he decides to defect. After the war, he returns to the United States and finds refuge in a small town. Even though Maria thinks Joe is dead, Joe decides to contact her and make things right. After making a full confession, Joe gets court marshaled and sent away to prison. Eventually, Maria decides to get married again, but she chooses a man named Ray who has a deeply dark side to his personality. His disturbing secrets cause Maria’s health to suffer, so she must start a new life. She goes back to work as a nurse, but her twin girls remain with Ray.
