The Shofar of Abel

Like any one of millions of little girls, Evie was unremarkable in her five-year-old appearance. Her mother spent extra time to neatly comb out her hair and tie it off into two ponytails projecting out of the sides of her head. However, her dark-green eyes were captivating – two shining emeralds sparkled as the highlight of her face. One needed only to be up close to see them clearly. Her face was generously dappled with a band of freckles spanning the width of her face, but particularly under her eyes and over the ridge of her dainty nose. She walked with quick, little steps trying to keep hold of her daddy’s hand and his long strides.
