It’s 1954 and the Lavender Scare is in full swing. A man winds up dead in an alleyway and the badges at the local precinct are ready to lose the paperwork on it because the victim was a homosexual. It isn’t the kind of case the local cops have any interest in, but it is exactly Detective René Hawke’s kind of case. It’s all Hawke does, because in a city of secrets, everyone has something they’re trying to hide. Especially a detective like René Hawke.
