This ebook may not meet accessibility standards and may not be fully compatible with assistive technologies.
Just as there are abandoned and disappeared places, camps, mines, railway stations etc. all over the world, there are many abandoned and disappeared airports and places.
Why are there so many such places?
Well, there are many different reasons.
Some airfields were only built for use in a war.
Z. B for World Wars I and II. After the war ended, many of these airfields were no longer needed and were abandoned as a result.
Other airfields were given up and abandoned because they became unprofitable. Or they were closed for political reasons, like Nicosia Airport in Cyprus.
Nicosia Airport was the only public airport in Cyprus. After the area was declared a UN protection zone during the Cyprus conflict in 1974, the airport had to close.
Many airports had to be abandoned as a result of changes to the area.
For example, one airfield was located in the former USSR (Soviet Union), but after the separation of some areas and a redivision of Russia, this airfield is now in Ukraine and is no longer in use, and is therefore left to decay.
Lost Places (abandoned places), which became ghost towns or empty and forgotten building-factory clinics etc., exert a tremendous fascination on the people.
This is no different with abandoned airports and places. There it is usually not only about the abandoned place itself, but also about parked and no longer used airplanes.
I leave it to you to explore the history of these places. In this ebook you will find the ways to these places by coordinates. The data sets are all structured in the same way and sorted alphabetically by country:
Name of the place, year of departure, reason for departure and condition of the place (as far as calculable), region, coordinates
This information on the individual airports is publicly accessible data from the Internet, from many different sites and data from libraries and archives.
