Though many times we have tried to wash away our sins by our efforts, deeds, New Year resolutions, and asking forgiveness repeatedly etc. yet we still find ourselves as sinners. All these indicate that we cannot wash away our sins by ourselves no matter how many years we might have been asking forgiveness repeatedly or how hard we might have tried. We need Grace. God sent Jesus Christ to pay the wages of sin; death. But the whole world has been wrongly taught, that they need to ask forgiveness of sin repeatedly, or they should try to keep the law perfectly or to be involved in works before they can be forgiven. That is not true. The wages of sin is death. We deserve to die for our sin. But God so loved us that he gave us Jesus Christ, that through His death, the wages of our sin might be paid for, once for all and through his blood that was shed, we are eternally redeemed. How do we become righteous then? By faith. "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes:"(vs. 16 NIV). When we believe in the good news of how Jesus Christ washed away our sins and how he has obtained eternal redemption for us, we shall be saved. When you hear and believe the Gospel, the power of God changes your thoughts and way of thinking, and makes you to see the gospel as God sees it, to think the way God thinks of you, to feel the way God feels about you, to walk the way God walks in you; all these are because of what Jesus Christ accomplished for us. Jesus Christ obtained the righteousness of God for us after he had paid the wages of our sin. "The righteous will live by faith" (NIV Romans 1:17), means that we should not rely upon our self-righteousness, efforts, good works etc., to save us. But rather, we should rely on the finished works of Jesus Christ to save us from sin, condemnation, death and the power of the devil. As we believe and confess this faith, God calls us "righteous". God did not call us righteous because of what we have done but he calls us righteous because we believe (Romans 4:3, 5). I am righteous and you also have been made righteous, just believe in the finished works of Jesus Christ. When I say I am righteous, I am not giving credit to the good I have done, rather I am giving credit to what Jesus Christ has done for us. While reading this book I believe that God will be working in the hearts of the readers and that the readers will be bestowed Grace.
