The Orgasm Project

The Orgasm Project grew from the need to counter the vulnerability of women’s sovereignty over their own bodies, and the myths and taboos which reinforce that vulnerability. Using stories of orgasm from a range of women in Aceh, Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, and Makassar, the author discusses sexuality in a comprehensive manner. Discourses about female circumcision, the virginity myth, fitness levels, safe sex, masturbation, sex toys, as well as the diversity of sexual orientation and gender identity, are all presented in an engrossing narrative. The Orgasm Project successfully broken women’s silence on the subject of sexual pleasure and orgasm.
