M is for Momma JB

ByHorus Wilson

One of the building blocks of learning to read is knowing the sounds letters make, so that later they can be combined in order to sound out words. With 26 letters, some with multiple sounds (think A, G, J, etc.), this can be a difficult skill for children to master. There are lots of ways to help your child develop their ability to recognize letter sounds. For instance, singing stretches words and syllables out so letter sounds are more prominent. You can also read books or chant rhymes or poetry with lots of alliteration. This brings attention to a particular letter sound. Another way is to share books that focus on letter sounds with your child. Due to the vast vocabulary, the books in the following series are meant to be read by an adult to a child.
