Mercedes is a young Latina from in Miami getting over the loss of her man. She goes to Montreal, with her cousin Lydia, to do lots of partying on New Year's weekend 2001. Meeting someone special, helps Mercedes to forget her heartache for a while; and she's reminded of what matters most in life: precious time spent with loved ones.
