Pained

freed Palestinian detainee Israa Ja’abis opens the pages of memory and pain, recounting her harrowing journey since surviving severe burns and being arrested in 2015. Through years of medical neglect, isolation, and daily struggle, she rebuilds herself word by word. Blending literary reflections, poetry, personal notes, and drawings, Israa presents a powerful testimony of suffering and resilience—a story of motherhood, loss, and the light of hope that refuses to fade despite chains and wounds. Pained is a testament to survival, a rebirth from the ashes, and the voice of a woman who turned her anguish into a message for the world.
