Laughing With Alzheimer's

ByJack Handley

When his mother Annie was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2009, Kilmarnock man Jack Handley decided to look after her at home. While this book offers advice for other families who've made the same home-care decision, its main message is that looking after an Alzheimer's patient doesn't have to be a chore. Using humour, patience and a little sensible planning, life can be fun for all involved. The book also has a section titled 'Mum's magic moments' that covers many of the funny things Annie did before and after her diagnosis. (Annie fell and broke her hip in December 2016 and now lives in a care facility because the family home is on three levels and a stairlift wasn't feasible.)
