The Christmas Story - The birth of Jesus and his younger life is a beautifully illustrated children’s book that retells the birth of Jesus in a continuous, immersive narrative drawn from the Gospels of Matthew and Luke. The story begins with the long centuries of waiting and the ancient promises given to Abraham and David. It then moves through Gabriel’s visit to Mary in Nazareth, Joseph’s dream and decision, the journey to Bethlehem for the census, the birth in the stable, the shepherds’ joyful discovery, the presentation in the Temple with Simeon and Anna, the visit of the Magi, the flight into Egypt, and the quiet years of growth in Nazareth. Every page is a classical-style full-color illustration that brings the sights, atmosphere, and emotion of the first Christmas vividly to life. Special sidebars introduce young readers (and the adults reading with them) to key background concepts—“What is a prophet?”, “Life in a Galilean village”, “Who is the angel Gabriel?”—while a note for grown-ups explains the careful harmonization of the two Gospel accounts and offers gentle conversation starters for families. The language is warm, clear, and ideally suited for reading aloud to young children, while remaining faithful to the spirit and substance of the biblical text. Scripture references are provided so families can turn to the original passages together. Perfect for Advent, Christmas Eve, bedtime, Sunday school, or as a lasting keepsake gift, The Christmas Story invites every reader to make room for wonder and to remember that the greatest story ever told began quietly, in a little town, with a young woman who said yes.
