Killing Hendrix

Jim Mitchell’s first-person account of his adventures between September 1969 and October 1970 has a “Forrest Gump” feel to it; the only difference being that Mitchell’s stories are real. But the most explosive and controversial passages are Mitchell’s hour-by-hour account of the events surrounding Jimi Hendrix’s death on September 18, 1970. The day starts when Hendrix’s bodyguard, Jerry Stickles calls from St Mary Abbot's Hospital to inform Mitchell that “Hendrix is dead”.In the end, Mitchell has enough evidence to be convinced that Hendrix was murdered, revealing for the first time the extraordinary details of his confrontation with the killer, in which he lays out his evidence and awaits the response:"Finally, he asked me: 'What are you going to do about all this?'No denial, no question...silence. I sat there, looking at the sky, and then the water, aware that he might consider and was perfectly capable of taking violent action."
