Complex Models I: Mathematics, Computer Science and Biological Complexity

This work addresses how to build and analyze complex models in several different fields using a variety of tools such as ODEs and directed asynchronous graphs of nodes capable of computational tasks linked by edges which perform computations themselves. Our focus here is not so much on showing you our great complete works but instead we stress how we go about building models and we show you several of our incomplete masterpieces which help us understand complicated issues. In your own work, you will build models based on a blend of mathematics, science and mathematics and we hope our comments will help you in that process.
