During the Second World War the Royal Navy established a training camp on the Pen-y-chain peninsula near the Welsh town of Pwllheli and named it HMS GLENDOWER. After the War it was used by Billy Butlin as a holiday camp and is now the Hafan-y-Mor Holiday Park. The Author, who trained at HMS GLENDOWER, records his nostalgic visit to the Butlin’s Holiday Camp. His photographic record shows how the Naval Base was transformed into a holiday resort. A map of today's pathways through enables the reader to locate where each photograph was taken bringing the history of the base alive.
