Bolton Born and Bred

The town of Bolton has an amazing history of engineering innovation and manufacture; yet at the beginning of the twenty-first century less and less people are familiar with the remarkable achievements of their forefathers. What a pleasure it is, therefore, to have the opportunity to talk about a modern-day entrepreneurial engineering achievement. John Entwistle’s father was clearly a remarkable man – an entrepreneur who built a very successful business and, in so doing, introduced his young son to an amazing array of engineering. John was introduced, at a very young age, to the world of business and met and talked to some remarkable men. But like his father before him, John Entwistle wanted to develop his own business, be his own boss. His idea, which created Bolton Turntable, and which later became British Turntable, was launched almost fifty years ago.
