The Alliance fleet was deployed into attack formation. To the admiral on the bridge of the foremost carrier it seemed ludicrous: the small terran fleet burning fuel accelerating to attack his mighty fleet that outnumbered them nearly three-to-one. The Alliance ships ceased rotation and their gravity cut out in preparation for combat: fighters were launched, and accelerated to meet the terran fighters between the opposing fleets. Hiranmayi saw the Alliance fighters coming and grinned; she had heard a lot about the great skill of Alliance razai pilots, but to her they seemed clumsy and slow. “Ready?” She asked Hank. “They’re dead.” He replied confidently. This is the story of the battle of Jura, one of the most important engagements of the Terra-Alliance war: it is a slice in the lives of the men and women who fought, and the glorious victory they gained.
