'Flies in Amber' gathers together 33 short stories from the author's several short-story collections of recent years. The stories range from the humorous to the serious, and from the brashly contemporary to a more classic literary mode reflecting settings in the early-to-mid 20th Century in places ranging from the USA and England to Europe and the author's native Bermuda. This collection includes the romantic-comedy novelette 'The Stoutheart Affair', featuring Lordly Wadson (whose lighthearted adventures in late-1930s Bermuda are gathered together in Mr. Evans's recent book 'The Lordly Wadson Collection').
