L..I.F.E. Is A D.R.E.A.M. is a personal growth and self-help book by K. Wisendanger. It is a diverse book of works that includes poetry, short stories, and articles. It serves as his first non-fiction book. He usually writes works in the fiction genre and wanted to continue to satisfy the fiction audience while attracting a new audience of readers - readers of non-fiction. He wanted to come up with a book that would attract a new audience - lovers of non-fiction while satisfying his fanbase of fiction. This sparked him to come up with the title "L.I.F.E. Is A D.R.E.A.M." The concept behind the title was to write the book as if you were sleeping and dreaming versus being awake. Some dreams can feel real but when we awaken we know the dream was not real - it was fiction as we are now in the real world. This concept aims to satisfy the readers of fiction through writing poetry and short stories ranging from many genres including mystery and suspense, drama, erotica, and romance. He desired to attract a new audience of readers (non-fiction) therefore, K. Wisendanger used the awakening from a dream concept to compliment the non-fiction portion of the book - being that when you are awake and no longer dreaming. The non-fiction part of the book includes articles and biographies on many topics ranging from simple everyday life challenges to complex topics. But it doesn't stop there. K. Wisendanger wanted to make the book intriguing and unique. K. Wisendanger does not classify fiction as not real. He calls fiction opportunistic reality being that anything can happen and come true given the right technology and understanding - as he says "If I were to tell you 85 years ago that I can put food in a box and get a meal in 3 minutes you would've thought I was crazy. But now we have it - it is called a microwave". This concept of opportunistic reality inspired him to write poems and short stories in two fashions - fiction and nonfiction. It contains poems and short stories where the meaning is direct, concrete, and clearly defined as this represents things that we experience that are literal and easily understood - whether they directly happen to us or someone/something else. Then there are stories and poems where the meaning is abstract and unfathomable -leaving the meaning up to readers' imagination and interpretation as this represents things we dream of or experience in life that happened to us or something/someone else that we can't quite make sense of.
