The text of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John compiled by event rather than in the traditional chapter and verse. Matthew, Mark, and John all record the story of the disciples on the Sea of Galilee in a contrary wind prior to Jesus walking on the water. All three writers point out that the wind was contrary, however Mark observes that Jesus “saw them toiling in rowing.” One could ponder how He saw them toiling and the sorts of human toiling that he observes today. Presenting the text of the four gospels in this format enables the reader to discover nuances to the different accounts. Such discoveries develop a greater personal testimony. I hope that as you read about the life of Jesus Christ in this format that you can better understand his role as the Savior and draw closer to Him.
