In "Experience of Ancestry," Leilani Holmes (author of "Ancestry of Experience") takes the reader on a journey through modern Hawaiian history as she contemplates her recently discovered familial connections to such figures as Robert Wilcox, Queen Lili’uokalani, Princess Theresa Owana Ka'ohelelani La'anui Wilcox, and Elizabeth Pratt. Holmes discusses these figures as a both a scholar and as a biased relative, while engaging with the fraught issues of colonialism, indigeneity, and feminism.
