By By Ground is a true story. I guessed at the names. This happened in the 50's This is a story of learning to fly. I started flying at Bowman Field, Louisville, Kentucky. I signed up under the GI bill. As the story unfolds you will be taught the mechanics of flying. The story includes; Getting caught in the leading edge of a very strong thunderstorm; Lost and down to 10 minutes of fuel; Pushed to 10,500 feet over an overcast; Making my first night landing with my wife and daughter on board; Landing at a restricted navy air base. My plane freezing up in Iowa.
I loved to fly and became pretty good at it. This view was not shared by one instructor at my last flying school. This difficulty promped me to stop flying. Those of you who are pilots or training to be should find parts of the story paralleling your own experiences and fun to read.
