Artist Marie Trinite sets out on a journey that leads to fictional Preston Bluff in Central Texas, where some folks fall in love with the wrong people for the wrong reasons, leading at times to attempted murder and other times to farce – but always to heartache. Preston Bluff’s woes began after 1861, when Captain Preston’s Indian/mulatto wife Nadeena and her Comanche lover leaped to their deaths off the bluff as he shot at them. Marie and the town’s Sheriff bond and help Nadeena peace. Ghosts of Preston Bluff explores how jealousy can blind us, infidelity can lead us off a cliff, and impulse can nearly destroy us and yet help us find true love. The story spans one week as a new year begins, resolving on the Feast of the Epiphany. It is no coincidence that the main characters experience their own epiphanies. The first in a series, Preston Bluff stories explore Texas’ political, social, and geologic history.
