In 2008, Maja moved to Tucson, Arizona, where her passion for exploration continued to thrive. Her parents visited annually, and together, they traveled throughout the state. In the early years, they explored the well-known attractions of Central and Northern Arizona. However, as her parents aged and long car rides became challenging, Maja turned her focus to discovering more about Southern Arizona.
She purchased several travel books, hoping to find detailed insights about the region, only to realize they provided only brief overviews of each area, covering the entire state rather than offering in-depth regional guidance. It became clear that there was a need for travel books dedicated specifically to each part of Arizona.
Southern Arizona is home to many seniors who still have a desire to explore. However, without a comprehensive and easily accessible guide, many find themselves revisiting the same familiar sights. Frustrated by the lack of detailed resources, Maja set out to create this book—a go-to reference filled with valuable information on the region’s landscapes, climate, wildlife, hiking trails, parks, lakes, rivers, museums, historic sites, farmers’ markets, seasonal events, gem hunting, and much more.
Designed for locals, visitors, and tourists alike, this book serves as a practical guide to experiencing all that Southern Arizona has to offer. Whether you're looking for new adventures or planning activities for visiting friends and family, you'll find something for everyone within these pages.
