This teaching handbook comes with five downloadable student workbooks and a voice recording, "Saying the Letter Sounds." The teaching method, called phonics, is based on speech sounds, or phonemes, and is highly interactive. The first two workbooks, in which children learn to hear and say sounds at the beginning and ending of words, build reading-readiness. In all five workbooks, exercises to build reading and writing (spelling) skills reinforce each other.
