A Man of no Consequence

The story starts in late sixties with a young Muslim boy at Ranchi who seems to have been in love-at-first-sight with a girl of a noble Hindu family, while being acutely aware of the forbidden-ness of this love; and moves to join paramilitary service but as they grow up, chance brings them close on occasions such as in Gangtok , in Punjab and in Delhi, but never too close, because the lady eventually moves to become a powerful Minister and the boy follows his destiny of a soldier to finally decay in the J&K theatre of conflict, but not before leaving this memoir. The essence of the story is to commemorate the strife-laden life of a soldier which cannot and must not be hunky-dory, and who must sacrifice his immediate gains for some larger goal, even if he dies unsung.
