September Poems

A poetry collection by Martin Parker and Patrick Bartmess. It is the result of a collaboration in which we each agreed to write thirty poems in September, responding to the same set of daily prompts. In order to drive variety and inspiration, we each contributed fifteen prompts, ostensibly creating a list of titles, one for each poem of the day. Our ground rules for the project were purposefully flexible so although we would be responding to the same word sets, they would probably be on different days. For the purposes of this publication we have formatted the poems with the day number but not the poet’s name. Completely by chance, one of us chose to use punctuation consistently and one used it sparingly. This is possibly the only way to differentiate them, unless the reader detects style and theme preference. These pieces are much as they fell onto the page on each day and we have permitted ourselves little extra time for additional editing or correction. What you read here is as close to our feelings and inspiration for each of the days of September 2023.
