Valentina Maslova is a professor at Vitebsk State University. She is one of the founders of linguistics-culturology, a new science taught at several Russian universities. Many Russian authors have written about linguistic-culturology, but the concept is generally unknown of in English. Through the use of language, linguistic-culturology tries to reveal the mentality of a nation and its culture.
