Every time the adversary thought he had won, he lost. With help from LDS Standard Works and also the Ethiopian Bible we examine the war that tries to thwart the Plan of Happiness. These books don't just explain the scriptures; they carry you into them. The scriptures happened to real people in real places, and short narratives, clearly labeled as fiction, let you stand beside them and see their circumstances in vibrant color. Then the scriptures speak for themselves. He lost in the council in heaven, when the Father chose His Son. He thought he had won in Eden, but the Fall opened the way to life. He thought he had won at Calvary, but on the third day the tomb was empty. Again and again, pride and selfishness blinded him, because he “knew not the mind of God.” Resurrection follows that long war from before the foundation of the world to the coming of the King: the rebellion of Lucifer, the serpent in Eden, Cain and the first secret combination, the city of Enoch, the Watchers and the Flood, the Savior’s birth and temptations, Gethsemane, the cross, the saints who rose with Him, His visit to Bountiful, the long night of apostasy, the morning of the Restoration, and the last battle. The LDS Standard Works (Canon) are the spine of the book. Beside them stand clearly labeled ancient witnesses from the Ethiopian Bible, including 1 Enoch and Jubilees, each weighed against the canon. A short narrative in every chapter, set apart as fiction, brings the scriptures to life. The war is real. So is the victory.
