Stirred to Remembrance
Why God Wakes His Children to Prayer. A Latter-day Saint Christian View
Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
A world without chance would be a world without agency, and a world without agency would be no world for children of God.
These books don't just explain the scriptures; they carry you into them. The scriptures happened to real people in real places, and short narratives, clearly labeled as fiction, let you stand beside them and see their circumstances in vibrant color. Then the scriptures speak for themselves.
In good times we forget God. In hard times we remember Him. Mormon saw the pattern plainly, and so do we. Stirred to Remembrance takes on the questions every believer eventually asks: Why do bad things happen to good people? Is this hardship a punishment? What did I inherit from those who came before me? And why do some things happen for no reason anyone can name, like the eighteen killed when the tower in Siloam fell?
Drawing on the LDS Standard Works (Canon), the book walks through the reminders scripture names, from the still small voice to sickness, war, famine, storm and humbling loss. It answers honestly: not every hardship is a reminder, and no one’s suffering is proof of God’s anger. But the Lord can make every one of them work together for our good.
Beside the teaching runs one family’s hard winter in Rexburg, Idaho: a mechanic’s fall from a ladder, surprise bills, a car crash, a bank error and a friend’s death, along with the surprising compassion and hidden blessings that came with them.
Black & White Edition: every page is printed in black and grey. The Savior’s words and prophecies, shown in red in the full-color edition, appear in bold.
