The Field Weekend Protocols is the working manual for the MidPacific Soviet of Letters’ Annual Field Weekend: three days of joint attention, shared imagery, coordinated observation, and cognitive synchrony. Originally prepared for the Soviet’s 90th Anniversary gathering at the Southern Annex in the Kerguelen Archipelago, the manual contains the complete retreat curriculum: schedules, facilitator scripts, breath and attention exercises, partnered observation, narrative synchrony, symbolic relay work, silent field exercises, recordkeeping procedures, safety directives, meals, departures, and the inevitable administrative reports. The premise is simple. Put a group of people in the same place. Give them the same instructions. Have them record what happens before they compare notes. Agreement is recorded. Disagreement is recorded. Extraordinary explanations are neither required nor particularly helpful.
