Contributions Towards a History of Driffield
Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
Frederick Ross (1816-1893) was a prolific writer on wide-ranging topics, but much of his work was about Yorkshire, and in particular, the East Yorkshire towns and villages. This book, published posthumously in 1898, is about Driffield and its surrounding locations. It has a wealth of detailed information of the years immediately preceding the time of writing. While some of the material that Ross presents about the early years of Driffield must be regarded as conjecture, his account of later times has details that are valuable to local historians. The religious prejudice of the times is apparent in some commentary.
