There are three different tests; one for 1.3g Pyrotechnic, one for 1.4g pyrotechnic and one for Proximate Fireworks. This book covers ALL OF THEM. 1.3g Pyrotechnic Test: Covers outdoor public displays of large, professional-grade fireworks (Division 1.3G, formerly Class B). This test ensures mastery of NFPA 1123 (Code for Fireworks Display) and requires federal BATFE (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) clearance to purchase and possess the materials. 1.4g Pyrotechnic Test: Covers smaller outdoor displays of consumer-grade fireworks (Division 1.4G, formerly Class C). Operators are tested primarily on NFPA 1123 guidelines and the handling of smaller mortars and aerial shells (2 inches and smaller). Federal ATF approval is not required for this license. Proximate Fireworks Test: Covers pyrotechnics and flame effects used in close proximity to an audience or indoors (such as at concerts or theatrical events). This test covers NFPA 1126 (Standard for the Use of Pyrotechnics Before a Proximate Audience) and NFPA 160 (Flame Effects Before an Audience).
