Hebrews 12:1 indicates that the purpose for the "roll call" of faith oriented people in the chapter 11 is to provide witnesses to the church of the importance, character, and power of faith. Every believer is challenged by the faith of other believers. A serious study of the faith demonstrated by the Old Testament saints confirms to modern believers that faith works under all kinds of circumstances and trials.
