A village of starving colorfully-dysfunctional Ukrainians in 1931 during the Holodomor (death by mass starvation) heroically and ingeniously turn tables on their Red Army Russian captors by killing then effectively getting rid of and using the bodies most evil of them first in a morally-designed plan that escalates and works for everyone who seeks to still be virtuous, but then goes wrong, resulting in an epidemic of Mad Cow disease that re-surfaces generations later to threaten survival of Russia, Ukraine and the world.
