Trade paperback. M. P. Shiel developed a remarkable rival to Sherlock Holmes by creating the mysterious Russian exile, Prince Zaleski. 'Prince Zaleski' was Shiel's first book (originally published in John Lane's 'Keynotes' series in 1895, and graced with a cover by Aubrey Beardsley), and it contains three fascinating detective stories. The influences of writers such as Edgar Allan Poe and Conan Doyle are evident throughout the volume. This Ramble House edition features a new introduction by Richard L. Kellogg. The cover by Gavin L. O'Keefe pays homage to Beardsley's original design.
