The book is a true life story about Janet and Michael who were living and suffering from poverty, severe loss of autonomy and mental ability. Michael was paralyzed when Janet first met him; they both felt on cloud nine the first day they met, had the best feeling and nothing seemed truly scary to them even though it looked like an impossible love.
All humans' natural tendency is to try and resolve the problem of good and bad by keeping the two separated because “bad company corrupts good morals but to Michael and Janet their story is a metaphor for the harvest of good and bad in no matter what form it comes.”
To Janet and Michael, they see everything that happens in their lives that is bad, including the lowest extreme unimaginable and most hopeless form of poverty, suffering and loss they come across as nothing but good in as far as they are both together with each other.
In fact, Janet and Michael accepted good and bad with gratitude because to them, their love even though is full of bounty of problems and sufferings, is their alpha and omega of today, tomorrow and hereafter. To them, taking caution against anything that has to do with love, even if it is bad, is fatal to true love and happiness.
Succinctly, while Janet's love saved incapacitated Michael from drowning, their love became one big passion and obsession that led to their marriage being seen as one of the best in the whole world.
