From the Mists to Tan y Coed
a Family History in the Breconshire Parish of Llanwrtyd
Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
When Daniel Rowland was born, in the first half of the eighteenth century, he was to begin a family line that was to make its presence felt in the sparsely populated, rural, parish of Llanwrtyd for two and a half centuries. When his great grandson died, in April 1914, he was described in the Brecon County Times as a member of one of the oldest families in Llanwrtyd... There were still two more generations to go!
Fully illustrated with photographs and maps of the locality together with extracts from official records such as Parish Records, Census returns and Wills, we follow the Rowlands family down the years, with an occasional trip out of area as we divert to branches that jumped parish. We see a story of hard lives, high infant mortality, and many changes to lifestyle and occupation, as the parish and the family grew together from rural pastoralism, through lively tourism, towards, post War, mid twentieth century calm.
